Karl Lauterbach’s anti-democratic demand
Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach demanded for endangerment of the rescue forces cancellation of the apartment
German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach called in a tweet for termination of the apartment for attacking or endangering rescue workers. This statement from the member of a governing party is unacceptable and anti-democratic.
Karl Lauterbach quote: “It’s a disgrace that a small group of chaotic people is attacking the rescue forces. I thank everyone who helped injured people that night. Reckless endangerment of the rescue forces should be grounds for termination of the apartment.”
Such statements are, of course, absolutely taboo in a democratic state, anti-democratic and fundamentally violate the constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany if they become a demand. To avoid misunderstandings: Of course, the perpetrators must be punished. However, driving them into homelessness cannot be a solution.
Karl Lauterbach has deleted his Twitter post, but he has not apologized for it. What the people of Germany have to ask themselves is whether a minister who posts anti-democratic demands is still tenable in government at all, or whether it would not be better for the government if he resigned.
