ANTISEMITES among the demonstrators – demo against the right in Hamburg … a demonstration of shame
Across the country, tens of thousands once again took to the streets against right-wing extremism. The largest demonstration took place in Hamburg. The organizers had expected 10,000 people there – so many turned up that the rally had to be called off. As right and important as this demonstration was, there were also dark clouds over the demonstration and, unfortunately, it has to be said openly that there was also a shadow of shame, embarrassment and horror over the demonstration.

As honorable as the intentions were to set an example against right-wing extremism, it is not without a shameful irony that extremists were also present at a demonstration against extremism.
We are talking about this scene
Among the demonstrators were also extremists with pro-Palestine flags. This is something where you have to ask yourself as a reasonable person, what in the name of reason have radical extremists and Israel haters lost at a demo like this, and why didn’t all the people standing around think it necessary to chase these radical extremists and anti-Semites out of the square? Where were the stewards that are needed at such demonstrations and, above all, where were the police?
How could the stewards and law enforcement officers have missed the fact that radical Israel-haters and anti-Semites were able to move around freely and completely uninhibitedly at such a demonstration, which was supposed to send out a signal, without anyone doing anything? As a person who was affected, I must honestly say that this was not a demo against the right, but a demo of shame, and that in the middle of Hamburg.
It is shameful, it is so shameful that these people were allowed to go about their business undisturbed at the demo, but it is even worse that no one was bothered. There was no outcry on public radio, no criticism anywhere else in the news, and not a word in the newspapers in Germany. At least I haven’t noticed any articles about it.
Even if Hamburg was a huge disgrace, I hope that more attention will be paid to it at other demonstrations.
If you are protesting against extremism, then you should protest against all kinds of extremism and also stamp out extremism in your own ranks to the best of your knowledge and belief by banning these people. Anti-Semitism has no place at such demonstrations. Hatred of Israel has no place at such demonstrations. You cannot tolerate supporters of terrorists in your own ranks if you want to achieve something good.
