Man impregnates 13-year-old: in court he asks for “Roma customs” to be taken into account

A man impregnated his 13-year-old stepdaughter. The case came to light by chance when he tried to blackmail a 17-year-old schoolboy.

On January 18, a 43-year-old father of a family in Dresden was convicted in court on suspicion of sexually abusing his underage stepdaughter. A DNA test had previously confirmed his paternity for his stepdaughter’s one-year-old child. During the trial, the accused once again mentioned his ethnic roots, as reported by “BILD”. He was informed by his lawyer that he and his family were “Romanian-speaking Roma”. It is important to take this into account when making a decision.

However, Judge Alexander Keller emphasized the “irreparable damage” that the defendant had caused to his 13-year-old stepdaughter. Furthermore, his actions “are not permitted under Romanian law […]”. He sentenced the defendant to three years and three months in prison.

Sexual abuse was only uncovered by chance

According to “BILD”, the case would have been almost impossible to uncover. However, the suspect wanted to attribute the newborn to a 17-year-old friend of his stepdaughter and blackmailed him for money. When the victim of the blackmail contacted the police, a paternity test was eventually carried out, which gave the first indication of the protracted sexual abuse. Although he admitted to impregnating his stepdaughter, he insists that he has no recollection of any sexual activity.

Case brings back unpleasant memories of another case

As recently as July 2023, Wochenblatt reported on a similar case in Landshut, Bavaria. A man who had moved to Lower Bavaria from Romania with his family had sexually abused his eight-year-old stepdaughter 739 times in six years. Memory gaps were also significant in this trial. After the abuse was uncovered by the accidental presence of his wife during an attempted vaginal intercourse between him and his stepdaughter, the defendant said: “[My wife] is a wonderful woman and a self-sacrificing mother.” We had a happy love life.
